Portraits Sew Hopeful

Hi there.  Welcome to my blog where I keep a record of my sewing projects.  I find it very helpful to have a place to write notes about each project for my future reference. Otherwise I forget what I have done or lose my notes whereas I can't lose its much harder to lose the internet

My name is Janelle, I live in Sydney Australia.  I am a child of the (early) 70s, so I clearly remember the horror that was the 80s and have no desire to go there ever again.

I was taught to sew practically from birth by my awesome and inspiring grandmother and mother.  My mother has watched my recent sewing obsession with amused bemusement and the occasional eagle eye to help me fix a wonky hemline.

About Me:

You can read some random details about me in this post.

I sew and crochet for me-time, relaxation, meditation and as a creative outlet. It makes me happy.  I also really love to rearrange furniture. I don't know why.  Its very satisfying.

I love the online sewing community, what an amazing bunch of awesome people we are!

I sew with a Janome QC6260.

My stats are  5'4".  Measurements are usually around 34" bust, 26.5"-28" waist, 38"-39" hips, depending on how much chocolate has been eaten (cause I find that information really useful when looking at other people's projects).

My usual litany of alterations are - sway back, forward shoulder, narrow shoulder, sloping shoulder (mmmm, I have tiny, puny shoulders), grading out for the hips, quite often I have gaping at the neckline front and back and also need a SBA.   I usually need to grade across 2 or more sizes when sewing from a Big 4 pattern.  (I also find this information really useful to know).

Thanks for visiting. I love to get comments, I've just closed them on this page because its clashes with my Disqus comment system and I don't get notified of them, so please say hi over on one of the posts on the main blog page so I will be sure to see it.

You can check out the details here {http://blacklabelblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/24/liebster-blog-award/ } but please dont feel any pressure to pay it forward! It really is just me saying hi & letting you know how much I enjoy your blog & inspiration. Take care, Angelique

  4. Hi Janelle, just come across your blog via a recommendation from another reader (Shar - she doesn't have a blog), due to my Elisalex bodice fit issues.

I've never seen another blogger record their stats and their standard alterations in one place before. Can I just say, this is an excellent idea? It's really easy to look at what someone's made and compare that to your own make without really knowing all the amendments and work they've done! Looking forward to having a browse at the rest of your blog now!
