MMMay13 - Day 10
Hi there.  Welcome to my blog where I keep a record of my sewing projects.

I sew and crochet for me-time, relaxation, meditation and as a creative outlet and also for the challenge. I also enjoy being able to wear what I like, that is "my style" and to wear stuff that actually fits. I've been sewing and crocheting since I was a child, following the tradition and example set by my grandmother.  I still remember her lessons.  She was amazing.

I am Australian and live in the suburbs of Sydney.

I sew with a Janome QC6260 and I have a basic model Janome overlocker/serger.
My stats are  5'4".  Measurements range from around 34 to 35" bust, same measurement for my high bust (I wear an A cup) 26.5" to 30" waist, 38" to 41" hips, depending on how much chocolate has been eaten. Lately that has been alot.  I am a classic pear shape.  I am in my early 40s.

My attempted style is classic, elegant, feminine with vintage influences.

My usual alterations are - sway back, forward shoulder, narrow shoulder, sloping shoulder (summed up by saying the no-shoulders adjustment), grading out for the hips, quite often I have gaping at the neckline front and back and sometimes need a SBA.   I usually need to grade across 3 sizes when sewing from a Big 4 pattern.

Thanks for visiting,

PS: I appreciate all comments, especially honest "tell it like it is comments".  I have no problem with someone saying "that is not a good look on you" or "do you realise your seam/hemline/zipper is wonky/badly sewn/etc etc" or "those darts are in the wrong place".  So if you are busting to tell me something but scared I'll be offended, just do it, I'll love you for it.  My email address is also available via my profile if you want to send me a direct email.  I want to be the best seamstress I can be and I can't do that if I don't get honest feedback.

Comments are just closed on this page because its clashes with my Disqus comment system and I don't get notified of them, so please say hi over on one of the posts on the main blog page so I will be sure to see it.

  3. Hi there - since you are a great inspiration to me I have nominated you for a { LIEBSTER BLOG AWARD }. You can check out the details here {http://blacklabelblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/24/liebster-blog-award/ } but please dont feel any pressure to pay it forward! It really is just me saying hi & letting you know how much I enjoy your blog & inspiration. Take care, Angelique

  4. Hi Janelle, just come across your blog via a recommendation from another reader (Shar - she doesn't have a blog), due to my Elisalex bodice fit issues.

I've never seen another blogger record their stats and their standard alterations in one place before. Can I just say, this is an excellent idea? It's really easy to look at what someone's made and compare that to your own make without really knowing all the amendments and work they've done! Looking forward to having a browse at the rest of your blog now!
