Hi there.  Welcome to my blog where I keep a record of my sewing projects.

I love to sew and have been sewing and crocheting since I was a young girl.   I was taught both crafts by my grandmother, and I consider it a great gift that these skills were passed down to me.

I love to create clothes that reflect my personal style, and find great satisfaction in the way sewing combines both creative and technical skills.  It is the perfect "whole brain" activity.

I sew mainly for myself, sometimes for my two daugthers and very rarely for others, and only for joy.

I am Australian and live in the suburbs of Sydney.

I sew with a Janome QC6260 and I have a basic model Janome overlocker/serger.
My stats are  5'4".  My measurements since starting this blog have ranged from around 32" to 35" bust, same measurement for my high bust (I wear an A cup) 26" to 30" waist, 36" to 41" hips.  I am currently at the low end of this range due to making some significant lifestyle changes to address some annoying health issues.   I am 44 years old.

My style is classic and feminine with strong vintage influences.

My usual alterations are - forward shoulder, narrow shoulder, sloping shoulder (summed up by saying the no-shoulders adjustment), sometimes grading out for the hips, quite often I have gaping at the neckline front and back and sometimes need a SBA.  Oh, and of course, frequently need to do a sway back alteration.

Thanks for visiting,

PS: I appreciate all comments, especially honest "tell it like it is comments".  I have no problem with someone saying "that is not a good look on you" or "do you realise your seam/hemline/zipper is wonky/badly sewn/etc etc" or "those darts are in the wrong place".  So if you are busting to tell me something but scared I'll be offended, just do it, I'll love you for it.  My email address is also available via my profile if you want to send me a direct email.  I want to be the best seamstress I can be and I can't do that if I don't get honest feedback.

Comments are just closed on this page because its clashes with my Disqus comment system and I don't get notified of them, so please say hi over on one of the posts on the main blog page so I will be sure to see it.

You can check out the details here {http://blacklabelblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/24/liebster-blog-award/ } but please dont feel any pressure to pay it forward! It really is just me saying hi & letting you know how much I enjoy your blog & inspiration. Take care, Angelique

  4. Hi Janelle, just come across your blog via a recommendation from another reader (Shar - she doesn't have a blog), due to my Elisalex bodice fit issues.

I've never seen another blogger record their stats and their standard alterations in one place before. Can I just say, this is an excellent idea? It's really easy to look at what someone's made and compare that to your own make without really knowing all the amendments and work they've done! Looking forward to having a browse at the rest of your blog now!
