Hi there. Welcome to my blog where I keep a record of my sewing projects.
My name is Janelle, I live in Sydney Australia. I was born 1971.
My grandmother and great auntie were very talented seamstresses and I was taught how to sew by them. My mother is also an excellent seamstress, although I am now the only member of my generation from my family who sews, which I find very sad, but also glad I can continue the tradition and hopefully pass the love onto my daughters.
You can read some random details about me in this post.
I sew and crochet for me-time, relaxation, meditation and as a creative outlet. I also sew to be able to wear what I like, that is "my style" and to wear stuff that actually fits.
I sew with a Janome QC6260.
My stats are 5'4". Measurements range from around 34 to 35" bust, 26.5" to 30" waist, 38" to 41" hips, depending on how much chocolate has been eaten, with an A cup bust. I am a classic pear shape.
My style is classic, elegant, feminine and vintage. Grace Kelly is my style icon.
My usual litany of alterations are - sway back, forward shoulder, narrow shoulder, sloping shoulder (mmmm, I have tiny, puny shoulders), grading out for the hips, quite often I have gaping at the neckline front and back and sometimes need a SBA. I usually need to grade across 3 sizes when sewing from a Big 4 pattern.
Thanks for visiting. I love to get comments, I've just closed them on this page because its clashes with my Disqus comment system and I don't get notified of them, so please say hi over on one of the posts on the main blog page so I will be sure to see it.
